Meet Jordan Jaiyeola

Creative Lead and digital creator

The visual storyteller and online creator sees the analog part of reMarkable as an essential foundation of his work.

Jordan Jaiyeola designs digital and in-person experiences for some of the world’s most iconic brands.

His professional life and personal passions often overlap. Whether working or exploring, he can be found deep in the worlds of branding, cinematography, color grading, and 3D motion design.

The power of the pen

Putting it on paper

“I’m a big advocate for digital design, but every concept has to start in a sketched format,” he says. “I’ve tried to skip the analog workflow before, but it takes three times as long to get half the distance. Putting ideas on ‘paper’ first is the only way to make sure the project won’t crumble.”

For every kind of mind

Visual mapping

“Large bodies of text are my nemesis,” he adds. “I need to visually map out what I’m doing. Even on a blank canvas, I like to put my thoughts into sections. It creates a visual map I can refer back to, and helps me process complex concepts before I start the actual filming process.”

Before reMarkable Jordan was stuck in a cycle of photographing pages to get his sketches onto a computer. But now his storyboards sync automatically to his phone. As he puts it, “It’s the convenience of a digital archive with the tactile feel of a pen. No more hunting for a specific notepad, it’s just one go-to device.”

The benefits of going paperless

Portable creativity

“I don’t always want to be at my desk when I’m coming up with ideas. My paper tablet is super light and the display size is so useful that I can move freely from space to space,” he explains. “It’s been great taking it on trips so I don’t have to carry a full collection of notepads with me everywhere.”

Clearing space

“I’m easily distracted, so I have to work in ‘do not disturb’ mode. When I’m ideating, all I really want is a notepad and my music. My reMarkable lets me find space from everything else — no pings, no DMs — so I can focus entirely on a concept without my mind wandering.”

Storyboarding on a traditional notepad means drawing arrows and asterisks everywhere. But now Jordan can just select a frame and move it. “It’s a smooth, digital transition for an analog process,” he says. “And it allows me to be precise and organized.”
