You can use the on-screen keyboard to add structure to your handwritten notes with titles and bullet points or make quick edits to converted texts. However, you’ll miss out on the ability to draft and edit longer texts on a tactile keyboard built to support distraction-free writing.
Just like our Book Folios, the new Type Folio has been designed to leave room for your Marker. It snaps into place on the right side of your reMarkable. It’s easily accessible when typing and annotating, but stored neatly out of the way while reading or when you’re on the go.
Tactile keyboard, sturdy protection
Seamlessly combine typing and handwriting
Snaps into place. No charging or cables
Three positions for focused work
A typewriter for the digital age, Type Folio features a pared-down physical design, minimalistic formatting options, and pages as long or as short as you need. Created for distraction-free writing.
Add extra thoughts and comments in the margins, sketch between paragraphs, or highlight passages with your Marker as you type. Handwriting, typing, sketching – seamlessly integrated.
Type in an upright position or combine handwriting and typed text in a near-flat setting. Reading documents or writing by hand? Fold away the keyboard and open your folio up like a good book.
Type and edit notes across your smart devices with our mobile and desktop apps. Add thoughts on the go, or pick up where you left off. All your work, available and ready to build on, wherever you are.
Get access to mobile and desktop note-taking with Connect.
When you open the keyboard, your paper tablet automatically rotates its display. Annotations anchor intelligently to typed text, even as it moves and evolves. Like our Markers, there’s no pairing, charging, or cables — just precise and hassle-free writing.
Type Folio’s keyboard boasts a generous 1.3 mm of key travel — similar to many laptops — and full-size letter keys. reMarkable’s CANVAS display, which mimics the tactile feel and immediate response of paper, means you can type without glare or eye strain.

We wanted to make our keyboard as easy to carry or slip into your bag as your paper tablet. Type Folio weighs approximately 453g (.99 lb) on its own. So when it is attached to your reMarkable 2 and Marker Plus, the total weight is approximately 878g (1.9 lb).
No. Using the Type Folio for note-taking should make almost no noticeable difference to the battery life of your paper tablet.
No. Type Folio was designed exclusively to work with reMarkable 2. The dimensions of reMarkable 1 are different, and it doesn’t have the magnetic accessory port required to attach and use Type Folio.
Type Folio features keyboard layouts in six different languages: US English, UK English, German, Spanish, French, and Nordic. The Nordic keyboard layout features SE, DK, NO, and FI on the same keyboard, with the option to choose one during device setup.
Note that the menu (system) language on reMarkable is English.
Type Folio is made from artificial leather offered in a choice of two colors just like our Book Folios; Sepia Brown and Ink Black.
It’s durable, polymer-based, low maintenance, and vegan — which we know is important to many of our customers who’d prefer not to use animal-based products to protect their paper tablet.
If you buy Type Folio with reMarkable 2, you'll get a 1-year free trial of Connect. The subscription gives you full access to seamless note-taking across devices, and unlimited cloud storage and sync.
Notes are always synced between your paper tablet, mobile, and desktop apps, so you can pick up where you left off on any device.
For example, you can take a quick note in reMarkable’s mobile app, continue editing on your computer with the desktop app, and make handwritten annotations to the draft on your paper tablet later.
