We’re excited to announce that we have raised 15 million USD in a Series A funding round with venture capital firm Spark Capital.

As our dedicated community of people who love digital paper grows, we also need to grow as a company in order to support it and to realize our vision of using technology to help people think better.

The funds will be used to further build out our team, to make paper tablets available to more people around the world, and to invest heavily in product development. This will mean significant software and hardware innovation that opens up new categories and creates genuine value for our customer community.

The reMarkable story so far

After running one of the most successful pre-order campaigns for a hardware startup in history, our 2017 launch saw tens of thousands of paper tablets shipped around the world. reMarkable quickly evolved from there, and now we have operations spanning across Asia, Oceania, Europe, and the Americas.

It’s been overwhelming, seeing how our customers have taken to using their paper tablets and following along as reMarkable has become part of their daily lives. It’s not at all an exaggeration to say the response from our customers has been extraordinary.

What started out as an idea six years ago is now in the hands of business leaders, consultants, teachers, students, engineers, and driven knowledge workers all over the world. We’ve seen significant revenue and customer growth, and we’ve grown the organization from a handful of people to 100 engaged, loyal and passionate employees.

Where we go from here

The first step of our vision was to make paper digital. Moving forward, our vision remains grounded in pushing the boundaries of technology and its use as a tool to support better thinking.

We have spoken to many investors over the past several years. More than any, Spark understood our vision here at reMarkable and believed in us as a team. It also didn’t hurt that they were early adopters and avid users of our paper tablet.

Spark has an amazing record of supporting companies on their journey, among them Twitter, Oculus VR, and Slack. So we’re thrilled to have their support as we move into our next phase.

We hope you’ll follow closely as we set out again to reach some very ambitious and exciting goals. Big thanks again to all our customers, supporters and partners.

Best wishes,

CEO & founder Magnus Haug Wanberg and the reMarkable team
