Kellie Geradi: Ground control to reMarkable
There are few things more entertaining than the thought of a reMarkable rocketing its way up into the cosmos. And yet, the sky may no longer be the limit for any reMarkable owned by aerospace and technology professional Kellie Gerardi.
Focus for zero gravity
Mum, author, research scientist and Virgin Galactic astronaut Kellie Geradi is so inseparable from her paper tablet that it seems likely it could launch into orbit right alongside her. Her passion is unmistakable. “To me, space represents the absolute best of humanity. I consider space to be our shared past and our shared future as a species,”explains Kellie, who flew 55,000 feet into space to study how liquids behave and how it affects human health.

Tools for takeoff
It’s this singularity that appeals the most to Kellie, “Working on so many different things I used to feel scattered or disorganized, which is really stressful,” says the author of children’s space book series Luna Muna. “But reMarkable is my digital mission control.” As a payload specialist, Kellie is a crew member selected to handle specific experiments or equipment during a space mission. Juggling this with her many other roles, it makes sense that her reMarkable adds a sense of order to her life. “I have access to all of the information I need when I need it, in an organized way,” adds the author of Not Necessarily Rocket Science. And never more so than right now. She points out from aptly named Jupiter in Palm Beach, Florida, where she lives with husband Steven and daughter, Delta V.
Lost in headspace
Despite having seen the world from a unique perspective (space is a silent vacuum with no air to carry sound waves) she’s found a peace with her paper tablet that had previously eluded her. “I used to be a serial notebook user. Scraps of paper everywhere,” she laughs. “With reMarkable, I'm able to go to sleep at night with a clear mind, knowing that it's all captured and at my fingertips when I need it.” A kind of quieting of the mind that’s valuable to Kellie. “I'm a very visual learner, so the act of handwriting instead of typing, helps to slow my brain down,” she says. “The act of forming a word with my hand is something that actually lets me dial in to the place where I do my best work.” It's ironic that in a busy world, a calm mind isn't just found in the silence of space, but in the focused stillness Kellie’s reMarkable tablet offers. An idea that isn’t so alien, after all.
